Hi Pidgin developers! This year's Google Summer of Code recently came
to a close (me or someone else should maybe write a blog and summarize
what our great students did), and Google is again hosting a weekend
meeting of mentors. They pay a significant chunk of money toward
airfare and weekend hotel stay for 2 mentors per organization to fly
to Mountain View, California, USA, hang out on Google's campus, and
gossip about Summer of Code.
Anyone developers interested in attending? It's October 22nd through
24th. Priority goes to Elliott and Daniel, since they mentored
students this year and haven't attended in the past (right? I'm
actually not sure if Daniel has been), then to Ethan and myself since
we also mentored students but we have both attended, then to devs who
helped read and review student applications, then I guess to other
Pidgin/Finch/libpurple devs who are interested in Summer of Code (or
would that be taking advantage of Google's generosity?)
It's a great opportunity to be geeky and share experiences and meet
fellow developers and travel to the San Francisco Bay Area. You could
also arrive earlier and stay later (lodging would be at your own
expense) and visit the area.
If this is interesting to you, please let me know. I can also answer
questions (either in private email or on this list, if you think other
people might be interested).
