Maintaining State in Pidgin

I love maintaining state. Everything should maintain state. It's a
pet peeve of mine that there are applications on my computer which do
not.
That said ... obviously I've not found the time to patch up Pidgin or
Finch to do this. It really shouldn't be a big deal, we already keep
most of the information to make it happen. There will be some corner
cases to take care of (although the easy way is probably ignore them;
e.g., if a user does not have logging turned on, the restored windows
don't have a backlog), of course.
Mark me in the "Pidgin should really handle this" camp. ;-)
