I think the SessionSave plugin
(http://somewhere.fscked.org/proj/sessionsave/) does this? I have
never used it myself, but the description looks promising. It
shouldn't be too hard, one would think ;), to have a version of it
that uses purple-only API so that it can be used with finch too!
