[GSoC 2012] Planned API changes - RFC

Hi,

as I mentioned some time ago [1], I think there is a need for some API
changes. I would like to implement some features related to prpl API,
I just need comments or just approval.

1) trimming whitespaces from usernames (#11733, but not only in
account setup dialog). Question: should it be done in libpurple, or UI
side?

2) username validation (#14649)

3) ability to change labels for "username" - just like userNameLabel
in Adium - many users are misled by "username" label, while they
looking for "GG number"
