soc.2013.gobjectification merge

Hi

As I had noted before, the soc.2013.gobjectification branch is good to merge.
I also checked it with valgrind, cleaned up my code a bit, and also built it
successfully on Windows.

Please let me know if there is something that I need to do before this merge
can be done. Is there something that needs to be fixed/improved? Or is it
that we just haven't gotten to it yet?
