It never worked. Discussion on IRC seemed to indicate that wouldn't be
necessary to preserve build compatibility for code which was known never
to have worked.

But sure, when I get to the point of doing a 2.x backport I can add the
alias if it's needed. I *am* building that 2.x-based tree, as I tidy up
the Tieto Lync-collab patches for consumption in 3.x. But I wasn't
planning to push it just yet :)
