Apparently AIM is being discontinued..

Greetings Programs!

It was brought to my attention today that aim will be shutting down on
2017-12-15 [1].  That means it'll be around for approximately for
three more months.  Make sure you have your contacts on another IM
service so you can keep talking to them!
