It's not at all strange, it's normal and expected.  The problem you're
going to find is that that email is also archived on nabble, Google
groups, mail-archive, and probably hundreds of other places (the
Pidgin support list is very popular for archiving for some reason).

For this (among other) reasons, you must click through a statement
that the mailing list is public to join it, and in turn we do not
alter our archives.
