How does the myspace IM work?

I was able to connect and it seems to know about my mail fine.  

When I go to the "Add Friends from MySpace" function, it informs me that
it added 27 of them.  I'm wondering where it gets that number.  I have
more than 27 friends.  How does it pick and choose?
