IRC 'conference mode' in Pidgin?

Hi,
     I was trying to view the ArsTechnica #mwsf conference today using
Pidgin's chat view and IRC.  However there appears to be no way of stanching
the torrent of join/leave/quit messages in the channel.  XChat offers a
'conference' mode which mutes this.  What is the equivalent in Pidgin IRC,
so all I get are user messages?
