No, I can confirm it is working because I have a policy on the IM gateway which is triggered if a message contains "inappropriate" language (the original IM message is blocked from being sent or received, and a message to the sender is generated).

The fact that it works with the gmail client doesn't mean that it's really
working, as google's client might have hardcoded a value. See:
