Pidgin crashes when accessing Prefs

Whenever I try to access Preferences from the Tools Menu, Pidgin 
crashes with the following error:

I am running Windows 98SE. No other menu item causes this issue. I 
have tried uninstalled & reinstalled both Pidgin and the latest 
version of GTK to no avail.
