trouble with pidgin

Hy there please help!
my pidgin messenger  wont load up the page appears then goes off, ive tried
to follow your instructions on web site regarding back tracing but no joy
bearing in mind i know nothing about linux the 1st one i have had. any input
would be most appreciated
