If you have changed your password, you will be fine. No worries.
The mails sent to support at pidgin.im are not sent to any specific individual,
instead are forwarded to a whole bunch of users/developers, who help solve
problems being faced by other users. So support is a sort of list of people.

This appears to be a recently fixed bug #9956:
http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/9956.
(I am not sure, if someone can verify)
You will have to wait for the release of 2.6.2 to be able to connect.
