Chat not blinking

Hi!
I was curious if this is a legitimate bug, or a setting, or intended
functionality.  I frequently use chats within pidgin but whenever there is a
new message posted to the chat, the line in the task bar does not blink to
notify a new message has arrived.  I can see how that would be annoying in a
lot of cases if it blinked each time, but we frequently do small chats (3 or
4 people) and it would be nice to have that notification.
