Please direct your responses to the mailing list (e.g. Reply All), not
just to me.

I don't understand why you're getting a message about retrieving the
user's profile when you're trying to IM someone.  Are you using a
plugin that might cause this?

What does the debug log (Help->Debug Window) say when you try to IM someone?
