WXP 2003 XP - Unable to Copy Paste from Pidgin to notepad

I'm experiencing problems when copying from Pidgin to a notepad.  The
debug error appears as:

 

(20:48:06) Gdk: gdkproperty-win32.c:201: OpenClipboard failed: The
operation completed successfully.

 

Pidgin 2.6.6

Windows XP SP3

 

This problem only occurs when a Microsoft Office application is running.


If all Microsoft Office applications are closed, I can copy/paste to
notepad.

If Word or Excel is running, I can paste to Word or Excel, but cannot
paste to notepad.

 

The MS clipboard shows:  (preview not available)

 

Is there a plug-in to resolve this issue?
