Locked out, new account reset. Help!

Still able to log into my Yahoo.  Can not log in to the pidgin IM.

Depends on which protocol. Generally, you need to go to the website for
the protocol you are 'locked out of' to reset your password - ie if it's
your AOL IM you can't access, you'd look at www.aol.com for resetting
the IM password. Or perhaps you mean something else?
