Pidgin 2.6.6 - Ubuntu 9.10: 100% CPU

Hello,

i've the problem since this morning that i can't start pidgin.
When i try to start it, the CPU will be at 100% (dual core),
but the graphical interface from pidgin doesn't start.

I've already reinstalled pidgin, removed, and reinstalled - but
nothing has help.

Do you know what i can do? i hope my english is good enough for this,
because i'm from germany.
