gtk+ and c++ versions (Re: gtk.zip file download issues)

After it installs GTK, how do we find which version of gtk has it
installed. I found that GTK is not appearing anywhere in start menu,
nor in Add/ Remove programs, and it was within program_files/pidgin
folder, but I don't know where to look to know its version. pidgin's
help-about doesn't provide any info about gtk version installed.

Similarly, is it pidgin that installed C++ redistributable 2005? If
so, there is 2008 c++ redistributable available that I have to install
for a different software. Will it be ok for pidgin to run if I install
2008 and uninstall this 2005?

Also, please do provide some method for us to know which c++
redistributable pidgin is using and where does it save that. It is
indeed appearing in Add/ Remove programs, but not in start menu.

Thanks a lot.
