yes, I hear you on that. Other Pidgin plugins have this implemented but my guess is this function is lacking in the SameTime protocol plugin. Unfortunately I am not a coder so I have no ability to look at the source and determine this myself. It may be there and it doesn't work with the SameTime servers my partner has (6.5 and now updating to 8.5) or it may not be there at all. Or there is a hidden switch somewhere that would allow me to turn that function on. Any thoughts about this?

Yes I have, it doesn't work. Our partner does updates on the server regularly to deal with things like name changes and those do not flow through to us. Now they are changing the user ID format globally and using the push feature to update the clients.
We did a test today on the new infrastructure and it didn't auto-update at all.

+ They just told me they are upgrading their infrastructure in 8 days and
+ the user IDs will be changing. The provider says "make sure Pidgin is
+ configured to always pull the buddy list from the server". Apparently
+ they will be updating the buddy lists automatically. I don't see an
+ option for this in the account settings. Does Pidgin support always
+ pulling the buddy list from the server? If so how do I configure it?

On other services it does this by default. The usual complaint is about
the server resetting local changes. Have you actually tried it?

Emails are not formal business letters, whatever businesses may want.
RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam,
that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work.
