"new contacts" group

Hello

I use pidgin every single day, and today when I logged on, I have a
new group called "new contacts" which i've never had before, and there
are NINE HUNDRED AND EIGHT contacts on it. Any idea where this new
group came from? and is it possible to remove/delete/block all these
contacts? I assure you, I didn't add 900 new people to my list in my
sleep.
