I read it as that he was trying to use daniel.stokes at example.com.  He 
said his email, not his Google email.  I didn't probe the headers to 
discover that he did have a Google email address.

Emails are not formal business letters, whatever businesses may want.
RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam,
that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work.
