spell check stop working

I have been using pidgin for many years now
and all of a sudden (as of a few months ago) my spell checker stop working
on it
I need to get it fixed or I may have to uninstall pidgin and find something
else to use in it's place instead
I don;t want to do that cause I love my pidgin, but I need spell check
working
