Have you tried setting it up as yuriy.krasn at aim.com?
I tried what Mark suggested and can confirm 2.10.7 does supports the "."
period in the username field, however Kubuntu 10.04 would likely need a
custom PPA added to the repositories in order to run 2.10.7.
