Issue with my pidgin (Windows 8)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 8 as the operating system,
installed Pidgin as my IM-client, but discovered that I can neither
copy nor paste nor "select all" nor can I do anything with the help of
the CTRL-button. I tried to google for the solution and looked in FAQ
of your site, but could not find any solution.

Could you please help me out with this?
