Trouble with new version

Hello.

I am trying to use the latest PIDGIN client to connect via XMPP to a
server.

The Connection security is 'old-style SSL' , allow plaintext auth over
unencrypted streams, port 5223.

All I get when trying to connect is :

SSL Handshake failed


This new version also does not prompt me to accept the certificate from the
server (the older versions always did).

Is there any logging I can enable to assist with tracking down the issue?
Or do you have any suggestions as to how I can make this new version
connect?
