yahoo two factor authentication

I apologize if I missed a response - searching the support archives is 
not that easy!

I turned on Yahoo two factor authentication, and even though I generated 
an "application password" ( one time password for 3rd party apps ) I 
still can't login using Pidgin.

( ubuntu 13.10, pidgin: 2.10.7 )

If I use the application password, I get "incorrect password" and if I 
use my actual yahoo password, I get "unspecified error 1240"

would like to use two-factor auth, just hoping there is something i'm 
missing
