New update has disabled Facebook chat

I downloaded the most recent Pidgin update 2.10.8 and upon launch, my Facebook chat login attempt times out and I get an error message stating "server closed the connection". I deleted and recreated my XMPP Facebook account following the instructions provided on the Facebook page, but I get the same result. Please advise.
