Character limit on passwords?

Kristina Marusic spake unto us the following wisdom:

I was able to set a ~100 character password.  I cannot reproduce this.
I don't know how many dots are in the box, but the entire password is
saved to the account preferences.

What version of Pidgin are you using, on what platform?
