Errors in Pidgin 2.8

Dale, Bill spake unto us the following wisdom:

If you're really running 2.8, the first thing you need to do is
upgrade to 2.10.10.  Not only will this fix numerous bugs, but it
includes quite a few security fixes that you should really have.
2.8.0, the only release in the 2.8 series, was released in 2011.

If you're using a distribution-supplied, patched 2.8, then you may
have the important security fixes, but you may also still have bugs
that are fixed in 2.10.
