LJ Talk disconnecting

Thanks a lot, Eion!
Yes, I think it is disconnecting due to the many errors, funny thing is that my "buddy" I chat with over
LJ Talk does not have this problem. And he is also using Pidgin, and the same version of it.
The only difference between us is that he is connecting from Australia, while I am in Europe.

I did download the pidgin-no-keepalives-master.zip and extracted it. But I must admit I don't really
know what to do with it, how to install it?

It works to send and recieve messages from my buddies, in between the disconnects. And the
debug log does not display any errors then. So to me, an amateur, it looks like the XMPP gateway
is working when I don't get disconnected.

Thanks again for helping me, Eion!
This problem is driving me crazy :-)

  Hi Peter,

Looks like that server is pretty unstable :)

At first glance, it look like after so many errors it disconnects the client, and since it doesn't support the basic "ping" command, is erroring out very quickly. You could try using the https://github.com/EionRobb/pidgin-no-keepalives plugin, which adds an additional option in the Advanced tab of the account to "Disable Keepalives" which would stop the ping command being sent. Not sure if it'll then just push the error somewhere else, but might help keep a stable connection.

Does the XMPP gateway still work, for the few minutes where it's not disconnected at a time?

  Cheers,
  Eion

    Hello,
Been trying to find this issue in the support archives, but not found anything similar.
I use the latest version of Pidgin, on an old XP Pro (SP 3) machine. Everything (AIM, Google Talk,
Facebook) works just fine, but not LJ Talk over the XMPP protocol.

It will connect and work for a while, but after between 4-6 minutes it will disconnect. Reconnect again,
work for a couple of minutes, only to disconnect again. And this goes on and on.

To eliminate possible reasons for this I have bypassed my NAT router (physically, meaning direct
connection to the Internet), disabled my software firewall and Windows firewall. It does not help, which
I thought it would not because Google Talk and Facebook works through the router and firewalls.

One interesting thing is that if I ping the jabber servers listed in Pidgin's debug log, I get no response.
A friend of mine living far away from me, and using a different ISP, could not ping them either.
So I doubt it is a problem with my ISP.

Below is what the debug log says. To make it shorter and easier to read, I have only pasted from where the errors begin. But of course I can post all of it, if that would help.
