Sending request issue

Hi there, 

I am using Pidgin at Simon Fraser University and am sending out requests to other staff as I am a new staff member. Other SFU staff have informed me that they are not getting my requests. Instead, I have to tell them to add me so that I can add them on to my list.

How can I fix this?
