ICQ Official announcement

Hi!

Russian ICQ users start receiving an announcement from "ICQ Official" (UIN 70105)
telling that since 28 December 2018 there will be "cease of support for old
ICQ versions and other non-official software clients" and encouraging
users to download new version from https://icq.com/

I guess, it would mean a change in ICQ protocol technically. Hence some questions:

What is current status of ICQ support/development in the Pidgin?
Are Pidgin/ICQ developers aware of coming changes?
Is Pidgin/ICQ code ready for the event already or does it need an update/testing?

Linux section of the site https://icq.com/linux states that their client
is open source licensed under Apache Public License 2.0
and points to https://github.com/mailru/icqdesktop
but latest non-trivial commit occurred 22 November 2017 as "release 10.0.12262":

https://github.com/mailru/icqdesktop/commit/cef91ceddb1e28f454d7c4076895f45e7bc72945

They could update it in some last moment before protocol change, though.
