 As per old Gaim feature request #1047920, XEP-0096 (JEP-0096) support
 needs improvement.  Specifically for XEP-0065 proxy support.  As an added
 bonus, clients should be able to discover a XEP-0065 proxy available on
 their connected server so that the end user would not normally have to
 configure the proxy.  iChat's behaviour in this regard is an excellent
 example.

 As per my earlier comment:
 AdiumX RFE 1966 seems to depend on this, so I'm seconding the request for
 attention on this feature from the Great and Gracious [Pidgin] Gods...
