 yeah, the randomness I mean here is not fully random, but much the same as
 what you says. The color list will be the same once generated (sure to be
 readable in current theme) in a running pidgin instance, and next time
 restart pidgin, the color list probably will change, is my understanding
 right ?

 I prefer random colors (in color list ;) for both chat and IM, and make
 them configurable. And the random ones should change if the current theme
 changes.
