 For the record, if you add yourself to your buddylist in Jabber, the
 Jabber server does NOT send you presence for yourself, and you would
 normally not show up as online.  Pidgin intentionally fakes this.

 I agree with the developers who commented on this bug and the other one.
 This is a design decision and I don't see any pressing reason why we
 should change it.
