 You should be able to obtain a diff by running "mtn diff >
 ~/libpurple_change_bonjour_from_howl_to_avahi.diff"

 As for configure scripts... it's kind of a pain.  The general idea is that
 there is a little block of checks in configure.ac for each library you
 want to check.  You should be able to use the PKG_CHECK_MODULES() macro
 thingy to determine if Avahi is installed.

 Also, we've been considering changing the bonjour prpl to be a sub-prpl of
 the jabber prpl.  That way the bonjour prpl could piggyback off of the
 jabber messaging code.  I believe Evan Schoenberg sent an email to either
 the gaim-devel mailing list or the pidgin-cabal mailing list about it
 within the last two months.  It may be worth investigating.

 Personally I'm ok with completely dropping support for howl.  I think Evan
 wanted to be able to use Apple's rendezvous library when libpurple is
 running on OS-X.
