 Sorry, through all my complaining, I never offered a suggestion:

 When selecting the MSN account, why not keep 'screen name' - which all
 protocols currently have - but include dark grey text inside the text
 field stating 'e-mail address'. Then, when the mouse is focused in the
 corresponding text box, the word 'e-mail address' disappears. If the user
 keeps it blank and then changes focus to another text box, the word
 'e-mail address' will reappear. This, will allow you to keep 'screen name'
 consistent but let MSN users know exactly *what* to put in that field.
 Since you can not under ANY circumstances have a MSN account without an
 e-mail address, then this appeals to both sides.

 What do you all think? Too much useless programming?
