 In my opinion, the Insert button in the conversation window about as large
 as three buttons for inserting links, images, and smileys. On the other
 hand, some protocols don't support images, so that button would not get
 displayed, reducing even more the toolbar estate required.

 As a side note, the narrowest size of the conversation window seems
 limited to 270 pixels, which even leaves some unused room to the right
 side of the "Insert" button.

 In conclusion, I'd vote for reverting to the 2 or 3 buttons for links,
 smiley and images.
