Hi there,
thanks for making one of the few working silc gui clients. It's also great
that you brought the private group chat to pidgin but in my eyes this one
really lacks usability.
First let me add how you normally join a private group chat in a text silc
session:
{{{
/server xyz
/join abc
/key channel abc set secret
}}}
The point is: You join a channel once, chats without key are not possible
in this room due to the mode +k AND there is just one private chat. Either
you know the key and use it or you don't.
So in my eyes the feature to add a "private group" is not what this is
meant to. In pidgin you create a channel and add a group to the channel
and have to join *both* with the disadvantage of even not having a nick
list in the very private chat window.
So my suggestion is: Keep it simple! Make the key protection a.k.a.
private group as a setting for the channel. You add a channel to your
buddy list and - if needed - a key for channel encryption. Also I guess
using the original silc naming "key" would be better than group because it
enables users to get help from the silc folks.
