 Ok, I checked again. This was not a crash so I assumed a dump/log was not
 needed. I did check the support site for any problems involving proxy
 BEFORE I made this report. I did not find (or maybe the problem is my
 understanding) of anything that matches what I am asking. Basically I
 thought if I said USE ENVIORMENTAL SETTINGS, it would, as documented, use
 what I have for my proxy settings in IE (Internet Explorer). I know that I
 can use Yahoo messenger with my proxy, but in that program, I specify the
 proxy just like I do in IE. Now in Pidgin, the proxy questions it asks are
 not the same as what is asked in a browser so I did not know what to put
 so I used the USE ENVORMENTAL SETTINGS. Please give me a hint as to what
 you mean by your comment What does the debug log say?
