 Whenever I receive a new message starting a new conversation, three things
 would happen:

 1) The systray icon would blink[[BR]]

 2) A balloon icon would appear on the menu bar at the top of Pidgin.[[BR]]

 3) The user's name in the list would bold, and that same balloon icon
 would appear next to their name[[BR]]


 However, the 3rd item, the one I've come to rely on for notification, is
 not happening anymore. This makes it difficult to respond promptly,
 because I may not notice the systray icon for hours.

 This USED to happen, but somewhere in the months I've used Pidgin, it's
 simply stopped. I'm not sure what I turned on, or what I turned off, I am
 not using any third-party plugins, and even a fresh install (no included
 plugins turned on, default preferences) didn't fix my problem.

 What have I done to my beloved Pidgin? Is it something insanely simple
 that I've missed?
