 I've been emailing the Smart Ear author, Matt Perry, and talking about it
 a little bit.  I have some ideas for a patch, and whenever I get "free
 time" I'll probably write one and send it to him.  If you're going to do a
 rewrite, please keep me informed; I may be able to contribute.  (I'm not
 on any Pidgin dev lists, just this one bugtrac entry, so please email me
 directly -- my email username is justinmarrese and my cable/isp is
 COMCAST, a NETwork.)
