 On a side note, users can do the same thing in the SF trackers, so that's
 not a "regression" in our ticket handling experience.  It is less than
 100% ideal, I agree.

 Still, it does have its benefits.  There have been times (this is not one
 of them) where a user has submitted additional information, demonstrating
 that I entirely misunderstood the initial report, and thus that it
 deserved new consideration.  It could be argued that the appropriate
 action in such a case is to open a new ticket, but I think that in such a
 case I prefer the existing ticket be amended.
