Comment:

 Problem was caused by code in `msim_input_cb()` to check for embedded
 nulls in incoming data. #ifdef'd this check out, and crash at login no
 longer occurs (retried 47 times, zero crashes). The fix is in
 aeccc95b37dafb2506e730ec64f9999ace79f879.
