Comment:

 Well, the firewall that I use is Sygate Personal Firewall, and I do not
 have an 'internet accelerator.' I run Avast Anti-Virus constantly in the
 background (and it updates definitions up to several times a day) - making
 me believe a trojan is a little unlikely as well.

 Is there any other information I can offer that might help pinpoint the
 source of the problem?
