Comment:

 I added a debug log, as suggested.

 I have a hard time believing that it's completely the fault of a firewall,
 because the normal AIM client (from AIM.com) works fine. So does Trillian.
 If there is a firewall disconnecting the connection, then Pidgin's code
 must not recover gracefully the way those other programs do.
