Comment:

 It is hard to say what is happening without a [wiki:TipsForBugReports
 debug log].

 The most likely scenario is that a firewall is causing you to disconnect
 immediately after authenticating and when pidgin tries to reconnect, the
 server eventually complains because of too many connections within a time
 period.
