Comment:
No, enabling is *not* logging in, as I tried to explain. There are plenty
of cases where hitting 'enable' will not log the account in, if the global
status is Offline is the most obvious one, but I have a number of custom
statuses which force a number of accounts to be offline and as such if I
were to enable those accounts while in that status they would not log in.
You can set different statuses for each account, that is what the status
creation dialogs are for, the current status system give you *infinitely*
more control than anything gaim was ever able to do. For example in pidgin
you can create a 'work only' status which signs you off of all but your
internal corporate jabber server and save it for later use, you can create
a status which sets you as Away 'in a meeting' for non-work accounts but
leaves you available for work accounts. With gaim you would need to
individually tweak each account every time you wanted to do such a thing.
As a real-world example, I have a 'Home for the night' status which signs
off my personal accounts but leaves my work account online which I use
every night, and a 'Work' status which has all of my accounts signed in
with a 'Work' available message. That is two clicks to go home and two
clicks when I get back in as opposed to the in excess of 12 clicks I would
have needed to do the same with gaim (I have seven accounts total).
I am closing this ticket as invalid since things are working as designed,
but feel free to post again if you need more explanation or have more
comments.
